Just As We Are

Good morning.
Here is a little something from the book,
"The Spiritual Maxims of Brother Lawrence".

***

In the way of God, thoughts count for little,
love is everything.

Nor is it needful that we should have great things to do.
We can do little things for God;
I turn the cake that is frying on the pan for love of Him.

We search for stated ways and methods of learning
how to love God,
and to come at that love
we disquiet our minds
by I know not how many devices;
we give ourselves a world of trouble
and pursue a multitude of practices to attain to a sense
of the Presence of God.

And yet it is so simple.

How very much shorter it is and easier to do
our common business purely
for the love of God,
to set His consecrating mark on all we lay hands to,
and thereby to foster the sense of
His abiding Presence

by communion of our heart with His!

There is no need either of art or science;
just as we are,
we can go to Him,
simply and with single heart."

This is so true. Often times we find ourselves reaching out to find ways that we think would please God when He is easy to please.

Just stopping what we are doing and spending a little time talking to Him is what He desires the most. To share that one on one relationship with us that every parent desires with their children.

Hi Kat ~ You're right, God does desire a relationship with each of us, and sometimes we do look for extra ways to please Him, when it's not necessary.

I don't feel we have to stop what we are doing during the day though in order to talk with Him. We can talk to Him while we are washing dishes, doing the laundry, mowing the lawn, taking care of family, cooking, doing crafts, cleaning the toilet, whatever.

Going about our daily lives doing things in love for Him instead of looking for credit from others is pleasing to Him.

Col 3:23 ~ And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

I'm not perfect, so there is no way I do all things heartily to the Lord. But, it is a desire of my heart. I am a sinner saved by God's tender loving mercy and grace.

Very nice blog and I really enjoy it. I challenged my Asian Sunday School kids to a challenge this week to listen for God, watch for God, and ask God and try to discern if they can hear Him. Most of all just be aware of Him and watch for Him.

Good morning L.D. ~ Be aware, that's great. So many times we lose track of His being right with us at all times. Glad you enjoyed the posting.
